The Department of Agriculture has released the import requirements for the Brown Marmorated Stink Bug season 2022-23. The United Kingdom and China have been identified as emerging risk countries for the season and may be selected for a random onshore inspection.
China – random inspections will apply to goods shipped between 1 September to 31 December 2022 (inclusive). United Kingdom – random inspections will apply to goods shipped between 1 December to 30 April 2023 (inclusive). FCL containers from Target Risk Countries that contain Target High Risk Goods will require fumigation. Fumigation for FCL containers that are 6 sided, sealed containers (General Purpose Containers) can be done in Australia. It is recommended that fumigation is completed at origin prior to shipping as there can be long delays due to the high volume of containers requiring fumigation. Open Top Containers and Breakbulk Shipments must have fumigation completed prior to arrival in Australia or otherwise will need to be exported to another port (e.g. Singapore) for fumigation prior to returning to Australia. Goods that fall within a number of tariff classifications have been categorised as either target high risk or target risk goods. High risk goods will require mandatory treatment and risk goods will be subject to random inspection.
